Curriculum

Curriculum

Miss Gaby chose this approach because she saw firsthand that children don’t all learn the same things at the same time. Instead of forcing a rigid structure, our curriculum allows for natural progression—supporting each child’s development while fostering curiosity, independence, and a love for learning. By blending Waldorf and Montessori principles, fostering a love for nature and imaginative play, and immersing children in a second language, we create a warm, enriching environment where children thrive—just as they are.

Individualized Learning

At Mi Escuelita, we believe that every child learns in their own unique way, at their own pace. That’s why we embrace a curriculum that is flexible, child-centered, and designed to meet each child where they are, helping them grow socially, emotionally, and intellectually. Independent learning helps children develop confidence, problem-solving skills, and a love for discovery, preparing them to think critically and explore new ideas on their own.

Nature & Imaginative Play

We also believe in the importance of childhood being filled with play, creativity, and hands-on experiences. Through nature play and imaginative play, children engage in real-world exploration, develop problem-solving skills, and build strong social connections. With limited screens, we encourage children to fully experience the joy of childhood and develop a love for learning through real-life interactions.

Spanish Immersion

Another key part of our curriculum is Spanish immersion—we speak 98% Spanish with the children because young minds are incredibly receptive to language. At this age, learning a second language is effortless and supports cognitive development, future opportunities, and deeper cultural understanding.

Ages

Ages

2-5 Years Old

Mixed-age learning creates a natural, family-like environment where children learn from each other in meaningful ways. Younger children observe and imitate the older ones, helping them develop new skills more quickly—whether it’s language, problem-solving, or social interactions. Meanwhile, older children gain leadership skills, patience, and empathy as they guide and support their younger peers. This dynamic fosters a strong sense of community, cooperation, and confidence, ensuring that every child feels valued and capable in their own learning journey.

Daily Schedule

Daily Schedule

At Mi Escuelita, our days follow a natural flow that balances structured learning, play, and rest. While each day may look a little different, here’s an overview of how we spend our time:

Morning (7:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
Children ease into the day with a warm, homemade breakfast, followed by circle time, hands-on learning activities, and outdoor exploration.

Midday (12:00 PM – 2:30 PM)
Lunchtime is a chance to nourish our bodies with homemade meals, followed by a peaceful nap or quiet rest time to recharge.

Afternoon (2:30 PM – 6:00 PM)
The second half of the day includes a special group activity, outdoor play, engaging learning experiences, and story time before heading home.
